I completed my edits of Ronin-'s photos a month ago, but have been waiting for her approval of which ones to publish. This is very common when I work with non-professional models, and it comes with pros and cons for me as a photographer. I love working with people who are exploring the idea of their bodies as art for the first time, and the experience of being part of that process is worthwhile in its own right. It comes with a need to trust the model and to unconditionally accept where they are in their personal journey. And often that means accepting that they're not ready for every single picture to be fair game for publication, the way a professional model would be.
Ronin-'s condition, as she anticipated would be the case before we ever started shooting, is to publish only photos that are either clothed or do not show her face. The images I cannot share with you are striking and powerful. But they belong to her, exclusively. And that's that.
Fortunately the rest of the images are also fantastic! As you may recall from an earlier post, Ronin- had a concept in mind, and we pulled it off. The "Lady of the Lake" theme turned out amazingly well. And with that... I'll shut up and let you see for yourself!
