Chalk this one up as another contest (in a Catholic-dominated country) that prefers my landscapes to my figure photography. Applying to the Trofeu Pell Circuit in Spain was a bit of a novelty, actually -- it was kind of fun to figure out how to submit photos on a website that, until the last few days of the contest, did not have an English version. And it's fun to check another country off the list of places that have accepted my photographs (19 countries now).

In this case, all four of my Landscape (PIDC) submissions were accepted in at least one of the four judgings, seven acceptances all told, including one (actually captured during my photo session with Invy Rose this August) that was awarded an AFI Diploma. Figurative photos were panned in the Open Monochrome category, but then, non-figurative photos were also ignored in the Open Color category. Two of my figurative photos in the "Backlight" (PIDC) special category were accepted:

• "Framed by Light I" (Backlight PIDC), DianaJean, Amanda Park, Washington, July 2016: accepted in two judgings; and
• "Dance in the Light" (Backlight PIDC), Dominique Zuniga, Valey of Fire, March 2016: accepted in one judging.
