I finally had time today to process the results of a couple of Photographic Society salons I entered in late June and early July. Odessos is a salon in Bulgaria, and the results weren't very satisfying -- only three photos accepted, albeit one of them with an Honorable Mention. But only one figure nude accepted -- the other two, including the awarded one, were in "sports" and "city scapes" themes.

Lanki Photo Awards Circuit (in Sri Lanka) was more satisfying. They had three different judgings, which meant three times as many opportunities for photos to be accepted or awarded. Judge number 3 was a sourpuss, or a fuddy-duddy -- he/she didn't like my photos nearly as much as judges 1 and 2, who each responded quite enthusiastically to my entries. All told, 15 (!) photos were accepted by one judge or another, a total of 21 acceptances among the three judges, including 9 photos with figurative themes. One of my nature photos received an "SSP Merit" award, whatever that is. I also received a "Judge's Choice" award in the Open Color category for my photo "Isaac's Angel" (should be Jacob's Angel, I know, but once a photo is accepted by PSA under a certain name, it takes an act of God to change it in future contests). And, my photo "Lookout" received a "Lavish Merit" award. Again, who knows what that is, but at least it sounds better than "SSP Merit!"
