Remember Kit Ashton? We did an amazing photo shoot back in February early in the morning in downtown Seattle, ending up at Pike Place Market (with photos that outraged Instagram, even censored -- but that's another story). Kit is also a practitioner and instructor of various leather-based fetishes, including costumes, corsets, leather whips, floggers and crops, puppy masks, and fox ears and tails. They were even Ms. Leather Slut 2018 back in the day!
Kit wanted updated photos of themself for use advertising their classes, so we scheduled a session at Royal Flash Studio in Tukwila. I confess that I really need more practice in studios to feel like I'm actually good at it. I've gotten good at natural light in outdoor settings, and I know the basics in studio, but ideally I need a few hundred hours of practice at the latter in order to match my competence with the former.
Still, I'm pleased with the results Kit and I got after a few hours under the lights. We did several costume changes and shot against both white and black backdrops. I find the black ones more forgiving and better suited to my personal aesthetic, but we got some great images with both. And I got to learn how to tie a corset! Also something I'd need practice to get good at.
