Three new Photographic Society results to report! I'm behind on blogging these results, so I'll just dive right in:

DPW Four Country Circuit (Serbia), closing May 1, 2023

OK results. Four judgings, in Croatia, Ireland, Montenegro and Serbia; and submissions in Nature (ND), Woman-Man-Child (PIDC),  Open Color (PIDC), and Open Monochrome. So, 64 possibilities, and 16 acceptances, for 25%. That's mediocre. Only one of my nature photos was accepted, but that one in all four countries. I had only 4 acceptances in the Woman-Man-Child category, so that's the same rate of acceptance. Same with monochrome and color: 4 acceptances each. Sixteen total sounds like a lot until you break it down to percentages.

But there's one exception: the color version of "Deep roots," made with Skye this winter, was accepted by three of four judgings, and more significantly, was awarded a PSA Gold Medal by one of them! So that's a gold star in a dark sky.

• "Athena on the beach" (Open Monochrome PIDM), Astrid Kallsen, Discovery Park, March 2023: Accepted in Croatia.
• "A rose is a rose is a rose" (Open Monochrome PIDM): This isn't exactly a "figurative" image, but I'll make an exception because it has a very Georgia O'Keefe thing going on, with sensual rose petals made even more labia-like by the black and white conversion. (This is also a reminder that you can make great art with a tool as simple as an iPhone.) Accepted in Ireland and Serbia.

Art Story (North Macedonia), closing May 21, 2023

Eleven acceptances in this one, but just one judging in six categories, so that's 11 out of 24 equals 46% acceptance, almost twice the previous salon. Six of those are figurative photos:

IAAP World Cup, closing May 28, 2023

Finally, a competition by the International Association of Art Photographers, just two categories (Color and Monochrome), and one judging, so just eight chances to be accepted, of which I had six acceptances, a 75% rate! Very pleased by this one. Of course, I also played it pretty safe with this one, submitting photos that had already proved successful elsewhere, but still:
