Since I last posted updates on Photographic Society contests, I've accumulated three sets of results: "Quest for Passion Circuit" in India; the Photographic Society's own annual Pictorial Division Exhibition; and the "Acruvium Circuit" in Montenegro.
An aside: India, besides having by far the largest number of photographic salons, also has the most interesting names. To my ear sometimes they sound like titles that came out of a random name generator being fed terms related to photography: "Arise to Canvas," "Photography for Life," "Zing of Click." They're not all like that--some are more traditional--but if I see a salon name that looks like a romance novel title, nine times out of ten it's in India.
Anyway, here are my new results:
Quest for Passion (India), July 2, 2023
- "Connection" (Open Monochrome PIDM), Lior Allay, Gas Works Park, March 2019: Accepted in all 5 judgings
- "Reclining figure" (Open Monochrome PIDM), Marzipanned, Seattle, January 2019: Accepted in all 5 judgings
- "Gamekeeper" (Open Color PIDC), Kit Ashton, Seattle, April 2023: Accepted in 2 of 5 judgings
- "Astrid on the Sound" (Open Monochrome PIDM), Astrid Kallsen, Discovery Park, March 2023: Accepted in 2 judging
- "Crossing" (Open Monochrome PIDM), Katlyn Lacoste, Silver Falls, March 2022: Accepted in 1 judging
Connection (Open Monochrome PIDM): Accepted x5
Reclining figure (Open Monochrome PIDM): Accepted x5
Gamekeeper (Open Color PIDC): Accepted x2
Astrid on the Sound (Open Monochrome PIDM): Accepted x2
Crossing (Open Monochrome PIDM): Accepted
As you can see, a great result for my black and white photos; not so much for my color images.

- "Rapture" (Open Monochrome PIDM), Astrid Kallsen, Discovery Park, March 2023: Accepted at Budva and Kotor

Rapture (Open Monochrome PIDM) (Accepted x2)
Portrait of Shasta (Portrait PIDM) (Accepted)
Interestingly, while my acceptance rate was dismal in the figurative categories, I did uncharacteristically well in Nature and Photo Travel, with three travel and two nature photos receiving a total of eight acceptances in three judgings, and one of them receiving an Honorable Mention.
Congratulations to Astrid for being the model of the hour, with images accepted in all three photo contests!
