Indian Henry's Hunting Ground is spectacular, and there is some pretty nice scenery along the way, too. The most direct route to get there is via the Kautz Creek Trail -- but even that "short" route is a steep 11 miles round-trip. This is an all day effort -- or let's plan ahead and spend the night there, with a side trip another mile via Mirror Lake to the amazing suspension bridge high over Tahoma Creek. The snow melts in July, and flowers soon follow. However, mosquitoes can be fierce early in the summer, so autumn is actually a better time for baring skin, before the snow returns sometime in October.
